This is Co-op Country: Explore Communities, Attractions & Hidden Gems
From iconic landmarks and scenic byways to locally owned businesses and hidden gems off the beaten path, nine of South Dakota's electric cooperatives are inviting travelers to experience the communities that make co-op country unique.
The "This is Co-op Country" Road Trip Map was created through a partnership of electric cooperatives to highlight the places, people and experiences that help define co-op country. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway, exploring a new corner of the region or looking for your next road trip destination, this map has something for you.
Featured stops include nationally recognized destinations such as Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park and Spearfish Canyon, as well as locally loved restaurants, museums, cultural centers, recreation areas and community gathering places that showcase the character of rural communities across western and central South Dakota, with select destinations extending into northern Nebraska.
Electric cooperatives have long been connected to the communities they serve. This project celebrates those communities by encouraging travelers to experience what makes co-op country special.
